Evacuee Assistance & Information
What assistance is being offered?
The Northwest Territory Métis Nation has received approval from the three Métis local governments (Fort Resolution Métis Government, Fort Smith Métis Council, Hay River Métis Government Council) to make a $300 payment to each evacuee that meets the following criteria:
- Must have been residing in one of the following evacuated communities: Enterprise, Fort Smith, Hay River, and Yellowknife.
- Must be an indigenous member of the NWTMN.
- If you are not currently a member of the NWTMN, your application status must be pre-approved to be eligible for this payment.
- A digital void cheque must be submitted to metiswildfire@nwtmetis.ca
- If you received a direct deposit from us in the last two years, your banking info will be on file.
- Payments will be made by direct deposit only, cheques will not be mailed.
- How to get a DIGITAL VOID CHEQUE
For all members under the age of 19, the assistance payment will be distributed to their primary caregiver.
Notice: Please respect our staff, they have also been evacuated from their homes and are working remotely with very limited resources. We expect that these payments will take a minimum of five business days to be dispersed. If you have any questions, please contact metiswildfire@nwtmetis.ca.
How to obtain a Digital Void Cheque
Click the tab below that corresponds to the banking institution that you use. In order to be eligible for evacuee funding, a void cheque must be provided.
To Get a Void Cheque in RBC Mobile app
- Sign in and tap the Account you want to obtain the void cheque for
- Select Details and then tap Get a Void Cheque
- Tap Download to download a PDF of your void cheque, you can then save it to your mobile device, text, or email
To Print a Void Cheque from the RBC website
- Sign in to Online Banking and click Account Services from the My Services box on the right side of the page.
- Click View and Print Void Cheque from the navigation menu on the left.
- Select an account.
- Agree to the terms and click View and Print.

How To Get a CIBC Void Cheque Online
A CIBC void cheque sample is also referred to as “direct deposit form” or “pre-authorized debit form.”
Follow these steps to access a “Direct deposit form” on CIBC:
- Sign in to CIBC Online Banking
- Select the bank account you need a void cheque for
- Select the “Void cheque/direct deposit info” link under the “Manage My Account” dropdown
- Check the information to ensure it is correct and includes all the details you need
- Print the form and sign it

How To Get a BMO Sample or Void Cheque
Follow these steps to get a BMO void cheque online:
- Sign in to your BMO Online Account
- Select the bank account you need a void cheque for under “My Accounts”
- Select the “Void Cheque” link
- You can now view and download your void cheque

Here’s how to view or print your void cheque details:
- From your Accounts page, select your chequing account
- Select Direct Deposits & Payments
- Go to Void Cheque and select View/Print
How do I get a Scotiabank void cheque on my phone?
Here’s how to view or print your void cheque details:
- From the app’s Home screen, tap your chequing account
- Tap Manage
- Tap Direct deposit/void cheque info
- Tap Void cheque
- Go to Void Cheque and tap View/Print

How To Get a TD Sample or Void Cheque
Follow these steps to access a “Direct deposit form” on TD:
- Sign in to EasyWeb
- Select the bank account you need a void cheque for
- Select the “direct deposit form (PDF)h form on the right side of the page
- You can now view and download the form
You can also view your direct deposit information using the TD app:
- Sign in to the TD app
- Select “My Accounts” and click on the account you need a void cheque for
- Click on the “Summary” tab
- Select “view” where you have “Direct Deposit Information”
- You should now see your direct deposit details on the screen
- Click on “Get Form” to print or save and download the form.

Where do I send my information?
A void cheque must be emailed to metiswildfire@nwtmetis.ca. Please include your full name and a copy of your void cheque. Alternatively, you can submit your information and void cheque using the contact form on this page.
- If you direct deposit from us in the last two years, your banking info will still be on file.
- We only accept VOID CHEQUES for updating banking information, no alternatives will be accepted.
