The Northwest Territory Métis Nation proudly recognizes member Ferron Gladue-Beamish for his dedication to healing, education, and supporting others on their recovery journeys.

Ferron made the courageous decision to seek treatment at Edgewood Treatment Centre in Nanaimo, British Columbia, a turning point that reshaped his life and future. Following treatment, he chose to remain on Vancouver Island to pursue post secondary education with the goal of giving back to others who face similar struggles.

Now approaching three years of sobriety, Ferron works as a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker at Edgewood, where he has been supporting individuals in recovery for nearly two years. Alongside his professional work, he is a full-time student at Vancouver Island University, currently completing his Social Services Diploma and preparing to transition into a Bachelor of Social Work program.

As a recovering alcoholic, Ferron openly shares his experience to help others find hope. He has spoken at detox centres and Alcoholics Anonymous recovery events, reaching hundreds of people with messages rooted in experience, strength, and resilience. His willingness to speak openly and support others reflects a deep commitment to community care and personal growth.

Ferron’s long-term goal is to return home to the Northwest Territories and use his education and experience to support individuals and families impacted by addiction.
