NWTMN – Resting Near Big Waters Team

In an effort to find and honour lost children who did not make it home, the Northwest Territory Métis Nation – Resting Near Big Waters Team (NWTMN RNBW Team, or the Team) began engaging the Northwest Territory Metis communities in the fall of 2023.

The NWTMN-RNBW Team is now taking names of Métis Residential School Survivors who have attended Breynat Hall, St. Peter’s, All Saints or St. Joseph’s, to record their experiences and memories. ‘Truth Gathering’ or ‘interviews’ will begin in February 2024. Archival research is also being done to access records and documentation to support this work.

If you are ready to share your Residential School Experience, please contact Letitia Pokiak, Lead Anthropologist, 867-444-1189,
