NEWS/PRESS RELEASE

Meeting with the Prime Minister

Our meeting with the Prime Minister on October 11th was a long time coming. It was important for him to hear, first-hand, our Métis issues and perspectives.

We raised important topics including the Daniels case on equality; health benefits; self-government and land claim negotiations; redress and unfulfilled treaty obligations including agricultural benefits (cows and plows); WBNP apology and compensation; housing dollars; Jordan’s Principle program, and all other programs that are only for First Nations.

He is committed to addressing our issues even though he says “it takes time”, but it is happening. We are very proud that the Prime Minister is hearing us and recognizing the NWTMN separate from the MNC.
