(NWTCOL) NWT Council of Leaders Meeting

President Garry Bailey (NWT Métis Nation), President Allan Heron (Ft Smith Métis Council) and Jake Heron (Chief Negotiator) represented the NWT Métis Nation at the NWT Council of Leaders (NWTCOL) meeting last week in Yellowknife (Sep 27 to 29). They met to discuss several important topics, including climate change, the NWT economy, UNDRIP, and the Arctic and Northern Policy Framework alongside Federal Minister Dan Vandal, NWT MP Michael McLeod, NWT Premier Caroline Cochrane, and many others.

The NWTCOL is a meeting between the Government of the NWT (Premier and Cabinet) and Indigenous Governments. A Joint Communique and Summary of Commitments were released by all parties at the conclusion of the meeting, these files are available to view/download on the bottom of this post.
